Apprentice, Weld Technician

Job Summary
Troubleshoot and repair welding equipment issues across GMAW, GTAW, and spot welding processes while performing hands-on preventive maintenance on production facilities. Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, replace sensors and switches, and conduct weld gun inspections using calibration tools. Maintain equipment records, schematics, and shift reports while adhering to OSHA, MIOSHA, and ISO safety standards. Operate a forklift and complete lockout/tagout procedures for all plant floor activities. Collaborate with shift leaders to implement lean manufacturing improvements and communicate welding concerns to management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Enrolled or plans to enroll within the next six months in a post-secondary skilled trades or apprenticeship program created by CBAM
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Ability and licensed to operate a forklift
- Complete lock out / tag out training
- Intermediate knowledge of welding and Fanuc controls
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Ability to replace receptacles, switches, sensors and cord sets
- Basic understanding of machine start-up and shut down procedures
- Able to use welding technology calibration tools (pressure check, Amp meter, etc)
- Basic Fanuc robotics knowledge and understands the capabilities
- Ability to perform basic hands-on PM's i.e. weld gun inspections
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner
- Keeps work area clean and organized
