Job Summary
Apprentice Teacher will observe Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide substitute teaching coverage, tutor students, and support teachers with grading and small-group instruction. Depending on school needs, they may teach a class or run enrichment activities, plan and deliver instruction, design assessments, and participate in collaborative curriculum development. They will work with an instructional coach, participate in professional development, and aim to become a full-time classroom teacher by year’s end, gaining hands-on practice across a range of instructional responsibilities and student support tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Ability to observe and learn from experienced teachers
- Willingness to engage in coaching and professional development
- Strong organizational and communication skills with children
- Experience working in schools and/or urban communities preferred but not required
- Commitment to mission of educating urban students
