Job Summary
Apprentice Teacher at Uncommon Schools in Newark, NJ, an opportunity for individuals with limited or no teaching experience to gain hands-on practice and training to become a full-time classroom teacher. Apprentice Teachers observe and learn from Master Teachers and co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide substitute teaching coverage, tutor and grade, and support students inside and outside the classroom. They may teach a class or small groups, plan instruction, develop mentoring relationships, assist with enrichment activities, and participate in regular coaching and professional development to prepare for a full-time teaching position. The role includes participating in advisory/homeroom activities, supervising transitions, and supporting classroom instruction and assessments. Compensation is $59,000 with generous benefits, including PTO, health/dental/vision, FSA, HSA, pension, and paid leave; in-person in Newark, NJ.
