Job Summary
Teach classes on behalf of Deans and teacher-leaders, provide substitute coverage, and potentially lead small groups or advisory periods. Support students through daily one-on-one tutoring, small group interventions, and behavior management. Observe Master Teachers to refine instructional techniques and meet regularly with an instructional coach for feedback. Assist with grading, assessments, and curriculum development while participating in collaborative grade-level activities. Perform all duties expected of classroom teachers, including supervising transitions and implementing academic standards. Complete an annual three-week staff orientation and training program. By the end of the year, candidates will be strong candidates for full-time teaching positions.

- A strong candidate will possess strong organizational skills, communication skills (particularly with children), and problem solving skills
- Relentless commitment to mission of educating urban students
- Belief in and alignment with Uncommon's core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable
- By the time that employment begins, candidates must have received a Bachelor's degree from a College or University
- A background in education is not required, though candidates should show a demonstrated passion for working with K-12 students
Desired Qualifications
- Ideal candidates are hard-working, urgent, energetic, and are willing to learn and adapt
- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred but not required
