Job Summary
Assist in the operation, maintenance, and inspection of boilers, turbine generators, and auxiliary equipment at the Red Wing Generating Plant. Obtain a Minnesota State Engineer Special Class license within 30 days of assignment if a higher license is not already held, and successfully complete regular training as part of the apprenticeship. Function under written plant operating and maintenance procedures while lifting 50 pounds or more safely. Work a rotating shift including weekends, holidays, days, afternoons, and nights, with overtime as needed. Pass the Edison Electric Institute POSS/MASS EEI Test and develop understanding of generating plant operations through learning ability.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess the applicable Minnesota State Engineer's license which is a Second-Class Grade A license after one (1) year of operating experience
- Must have a reasonable level of learning ability to develop understanding of generating plant operations and procedures
- Must have the ability to intelligently communicate constructively with plant personnel both verbally and in writing
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute POSS/MASS EEI Test
- Must obtain a Minnesota Engineer Special Boiler license within 30 days assignment to the apprenticeship
- Must obtain a Minnesota Engineer 2nd Class license; Boiler license after 1 year of experience but prior to completion of apprenticeship
- Must be able to work a rotating shift, to include weekends and holidays
- Must be willing to accept overtime as needed
- Will be required to successfully complete regular training as part of the apprenticeship and continuing training thereafter
- Will be required to function under written plant operating and maintenance procedures, as appropriate
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more safely
