Job Summary
Apprentice Pipefitter sought to fabricate, install, and oversee piping systems on large commercial construction projects. Responsibilities include fabricating piping, reading blueprints and specifications to determine scope, selecting pipe types/sizes, cutting, threading, pro-pressing, bending, assembling pipes, bolting and tack-welding, installing supports and valves, performing leak tests, identifying tools, operating forklifts and manlifts, maintaining a safe work environment, laying out pipe installations, and leading a small crew (6–10 people) to clock in crew and verify codes. Requires experience with copper, stainless, and steel piping, ability to read weld symbols/procedures and mechanical/structural drawings, and proficiency with technical manuals and ISO standards. OSHA 10 hour preferred; strong verbal/written communication; ability to work from ladders/manlifts; basic mechanical/mathematical/English skills. Required Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience with pipe fitting processes using piping such as copper, stainless, and steel
- ability to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings
- ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions (ISO standards)
- OSHA 10 hour preferred
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- able to work from ladders and man lifts at various heights
- able to operate forklifts and manlifts as needed
- basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
- ability to perform essential job functions in a safe manner
- read and lay out piping installations and coordinate with crew lead
