Job Summary
Apprentice Operator will learn to safely operate a variety of heavy equipment under supervision, supporting highway, bridge, and earthwork projects in Missouri. The role emphasizes hands-on and classroom training, safety, and progressive responsibility toward journeyman status after completing a two-year apprenticeship. Key duties include assisting with jobsite activities, performing general labor tasks, helping with equipment inspections and maintenance, and following safety procedures and company policies. The program progresses through milestones with on-the-job development and performance evaluations to advance toward full Operator status.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Interest in learning heavy equipment operation
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
- Ability to properly follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA requirements for safe working procedures and environments
- Willingness to undergo a background check, physical, drug, and alcohol testing
- Travel: Employee is responsible for their own transportation; this position involves continuous travel between job sites, including frequent overnight stays
- Typical Work Week: Primarily Monday-Friday, may include evenings/nights and weekends
