Job Summary
Apprentice Nurse Program at Baystate Health in Springfield, MA. The Apprentice Nurse will support a Registered Nurse and collaborate with the health care team to manage patient care, perform direct patient care (hygiene, skin care, mobility, elimination needs), obtain and record vital signs, collect laboratory specimens, document intake/output, and communicate effectively with patients and staff. The role provides exposure to a range of diagnoses and rotates across 16 medical, surgical, and cardiac adult inpatient floors. Scheduling requires a minimum of 200 hours annually with shifts including 4/8/12 hours; summer hours include 24 per week with weekend requirements. The program emphasizes professional development, teamwork, and development of communication and organizational skills while actively enrolled in an accredited RN program. Required Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent
- Currently actively enrolled and participating in an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited RN nursing program
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider CPR certification
- Successfully completed 1 clinical rotation (including Fundamentals) or has 6 months of applicable direct patient care experience
