Job Summary
Apprentice Millwright role focused on learning to machine, fit, assemble and build precision tooling and mechanical assemblies for robotic work cells and factory automation projects. Training includes interpreting drawings, measuring and marking metal stock, preparing parts with lathes, mills, grinders, and other toolroom equipment, verifying dimensions with micrometers and gauges, applying GD&T, and assembling floor stations. The position involves floor assembly, cell layout work, and involvement in system integration, customer site travel, and site installation/acceptance. Completion of a 4-year, 8,000-hour apprenticeship and College training is required, with eligibility for annual incentives, health benefits, and education reimbursement. The role requires adherence to safety standards and company codes, and it offers exposure to automation solutions across manufacturing settings.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma specializing in drafting and machine shop or equivalent
- Practical working knowledge of operation of toolroom equipment
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret drawings
- Keen interest to learn the Millwright/Machine Tool Builder Trade
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and participate in site installation and acceptance testing
- Ability to perform tasks using hand tools, milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other toolroom equipment
- Understand GD&T and apply tolerances per prints
- Ability to verify dimensions with micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks
- Commitment to complete a 4-year, 8,000-hour apprenticeship and obtain Certificate of Qualification
- Maintain safety and compliance with company policies
- Ability to work within a team and report issues to managers
