Job Summary
Apprentice Mechanic role focuses on developing foundational mechanical and technical skills with on-the-job training. Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment failures, dismantling and reassembling mechanical and production equipment, installing and maintaining machinery and support systems, performing fabrication, welding, pipefitting, and using standard mechanic tools. The position requires reading drawings or verbal instructions, working with electricians as needed, operating overhead lifts, participating in Safety Teams, and supporting data entry and basic computer tasks. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on learning in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Technical degree or certificate in Industrial Maintenance or a related field preferred
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new technologies
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and scheduled overtime
- Ability to tolerate extended periods of walking, bending, stooping, kneeling
- Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders as part of daily tasks
- Ability to perform basic math
- Strong problem-solving skills and quick response capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform daily data entry and basic computer tasks
- Ability to work in a moderately heavy manufacturing environment
