Job Summary
Apprentice Mechanic role at Herc Rentals: perform preventative maintenance on Herc-owned fleet, operate and test equipment, conduct routine maintenance and repairs under supervision, diagnose small tools and light rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics, perform major repairs with diagnostic tools and hand tools, conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire/battery replacements, enter work orders via fleet mgmt system, assist in reconditioning parts, learn warranty coverage, maintain a clean work area, produce detailed service reports and repair logs, follow procedures, and perform additional duties as assigned. Requires being a registered Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician apprentice with a valid driver’s license, strong communication, teamwork, safety awareness, and ability to operate multiple vehicles/equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician registered apprentice
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work constructively under pressure
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrates initiative and strong organizational skills
- Exceptional communication skills while maintaining a professional customer service focused attitude
- Ability to drive/operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment
- Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform basic computer operations such as opening and closing work orders
- Ability to follow up with customers in a timely manner
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
