Job Summary
The Apprentice Engineer role involves observing and complying with safety policies, gaining hands-on engineering exposure across plant maintenance, coordinating with shift supervisors and the Plant Manager to ensure planned maintenance is carried out and documented, inspecting and repairing equipment, updating site maintenance procedures, maintaining workshop areas and spares, preparing stock lists for audits, and liaising on improvement initiatives. The position includes attending college one day a week to complete a Level 3 in Engineering under a formal apprenticeship, with basic requirements including GCSEs in maths and English and a willingness to undertake training. Strong teamwork, communication, and familiarity with health and safety, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office, are expected.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Grade C or above in maths and English GCSE
- Level 1 or 2 in Engineering or similar
- Willing to attend the college and complete course work practical and academically
- Willingness to attend additional training courses specific the role
- A basic knowledge of engineering
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to read and understand written instruction
- Basic knowledge of health and safety at work
- Be a good communicator
- Ability to use Microsoft packages, Work, Excel, Outlook
- Quick to learn and maintain a professional manner
- Driving licence preferred
