Apprentice I - Journey Lineworker

Job Summary
Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of low and high voltage transmission and distribution lines, including setting poles, stringing wire, and installing transformers, fuse cutouts, and meters. Perform removal and replacement of distribution poles, cross arms, and insulators while operating bucket trucks, trenchers, and service vehicles. Investigate power outage complaints, conduct voltage and amperage tests, and make necessary repairs to substation and switching stations. Adhere to OSHA rules and safety manuals while working in teams to support municipal electric systems. Complete 8,000 hours of apprenticeship training to advance within the program. Work a rotating on-call schedule with emergency overtime and callouts. Requires a valid North or South Carolina CDL Class A license and high school diploma.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion or partial completion of the Lineman Career Development Program, and/or an accredited Lineman apprentice program, having successfully passed required testing, or the ability to successfully complete the Lineman Career Development Program after hire
- Additional consideration will be given to certified Journeyman level individuals
- Rotating on-call schedule, emergency overtime and respond to emergency callouts from home, as needed
- Valid North Carolina driver's license and good driving record
- Valid North or South Carolina commercial driver's license (CDL) – Class A
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and/or alcohol screening
- Ability to pass random testing due to the CDL license requirement
- Ability to pass all drug and/or alcohol screenings
