Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic

Job Summary

Assist journeyperson mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy duty equipment, performing routine servicing including lubrication, fluid changes, and component replacement. Support diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems while maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with site standards. Complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance documentation accurately, following all site safety procedures, job hazard assessments, and manufacturer guidelines. This full-time, Monday-to-Friday role in Calgary offers on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced journeypersons within an industrial shop and field-based environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Indigenous ancestry (self-identified)
  • Registered apprentice or demonstrated interest in pursuing a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship
  • Valid driver's license
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with heavy duty equipment, automotive, or mechanical systems
  • Prior shop, field, or industrial work experience
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and shop equipment
