Job Summary
Apprentice Equipment Technician role performing basic maintenance and heavy equipment repair under supervision, developing skills in diagnosis, removal, repair, installation, disassembly/assembly, rebuilding, and reconditioning per manufacturer specs. Responsibilities include PPE and safety adherence, completing JHA assessments, diagnosing engine and powertrain components, identifying leaks, testing under supervision, performing preventative maintenance, and writing service reports for files and warranty purposes. Requires basic electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, cab systems knowledge, ability to follow service manuals, and ongoing education/training; must have high school diploma or GED and an Associate degree or equivalent experience, plus a valid driver’s license and English communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Proof of high school diploma or GED
- Associates degree in diesel technology, trade school diploma, or one-year equivalent experience in Caterpillar or similar environment with hydraulic, engine and powertrain experience
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English)
- Appropriate technician level tooling
