Job Summary
Operate a commercial refuse or recycling vehicle in tandem with a seasoned driver or trainer to provide service to customers, performing pre- and post-trip inspections and documenting checks. Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and commercial containers, including using hoisting devices to lift bins into the truck hopper, while assisting with backing maneuvers. Immediately report unsafe situations, service interruptions, or incidents to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, and communicate customer requests as directed. Follow route assignments, complete end-of-day documentation, and attend all scheduled training programs and briefings required to safely operate the vehicle in compliance with safety and federal laws.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports
- Commercial or Non-commercial Driver's License Class C or D
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, grasp, feel, talk, perform repetitive motions, and require eye/hand/foot coordination
- Must strictly comply with all safety rules and protocols
- Must be subject to drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment screening, post-incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited)
- Commercial or Non-commercial Class C or D w/ CDL Permit
