Job Summary
Coordinate evaluations for referred students by conducting family interviews, administering adaptive behavior assessments, and interpreting findings for parents and school staff. Facilitate the Student Assistance Team process, design educational and behavioral interventions, and maintain accurate case records in compliance with state and federal laws. Serve as a Child Search Team member to screen cognitive and developmental needs, while participating in IEP staffing meetings and Tier III data analysis to develop evidence-based plans. Provide direct services to students and families in childcare centers, deliver in-service training on special education eligibility and classroom management, and collaborate with community agencies to support exceptional children.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Valid Louisiana Ancillary Certificate
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker with expertise in administering and interpreting diagnostic techniques used with all types of exceptional children
- basic computer skills and the ability to use various types of software programs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to special education
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.)
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely
- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely
