Job Summary
Appraisal Review Specialist II reviews, analyzes, and evaluates real estate appraisals and valuations for commercial loans from various appraisal vendors. Follows up on vendor valuations, reconciles differences in opinion, researches market data, and provides analysis to support modifications of appraised values. Interfaces with loan officers on property inspections and risk analysis, negotiates fees and terms for appraisal services, and develops appraisal/valuation standards while ensuring compliance with federal regulatory guidelines and USPAP. Requires deep expertise across industrial, multifamily, and large subdivision appraisals, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and state certifications for New York and New Jersey. The role supports commercial lending teams and contributes to appraisal policy, training, and market intelligence initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required
- 5+ Years of related experience
- State Appraiser Certification required
- MAI designation or equivalent experience required
- Expert knowledge of commercial real estate appraising and valuation principles and practice
- New York and New Jersey State Certification required
- Strong analytical and evaluative skills
- Excellent interpersonal communications and negotiations skills
- Familiarity with FIRREA and USPAP
- Banking experience preferred
