Job Summary
Applied AI Engineer embedded at a retail insurance agency, owning end-to-end customer-side execution and building governed AI workflows on Terminal by integrating with AMS, carrier portals, email, and agency systems. You identify which parts of an agency's operation can be system-governed while preserving human judgment, design review/override patterns to enable trust in a regulated business, and feed insights back to Engineering, Product, and Design to scale the platform. Responsibilities include traveling to customer sites (~25%), representing QuoteWell with customers, and delivering work that blends software engineering with AI in production. Requirements emphasize 1-5 years of production software experience (Python/TypeScript a plus), a strong engineering foundation (CS degree typical), hands-on AI pattern experience or eagerness to learn, and a willingness to travel.
Required Qualifications
- 1-5 years shipping production software (Python and/or TypeScript a plus)
- Strong engineering foundation — CS degree typical, talented dropouts welcome
- Hands-on experience with modern AI application patterns, or the aptitude and hunger to get there fast
- Ability to troubleshoot, scope, and reason out loud in front of customers
- Genuine appetite to learn insurance as a financial supply chain puzzle
- Willingness to travel
