Job Summary
Hands-on Applications Engineering Manager leading a distributed team of Applications Engineers across your territory, combining technical ownership (PLC programming, robot programming, ladder logic, CAD, Python scripting) with people leadership. You will manage development and workload, serve as escalation point for complex installs, and partner with sales leadership on territory priorities. Stay technically engaged while also coaching and developing engineers, reviewing designs and POCs, and owning customer engagements from pre-sales through post-install. The role involves travel up to 25% domestically, reporting to the VP of Applications Engineering, and maintaining high standards for delivery and customer success. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience) and 5+ years of hands-on AE/automation experience plus 2+ years of people management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline — or equivalent hands-on experience that tells the same story
- 5+ years of hands-on applications engineering, systems integration, or automation engineering experience
- 2+ years of people management or team lead experience
- Strong customer-facing presence and ability to manage difficult customer conversations
- Experience managing a distributed team or territory
- Comfort with up to 25% domestic travel for escalations, key customer engagements, and team support
