Job Summary
The Applications Engineer at e-STORAGE is responsible for providing technical expertise to support Canadian Solar’s energy storage solutions, engaging in pre-sales activities for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of BESS integration and experience in developing and delivering energy storage systems. Responsibilities include being a technical champion in customer discussions, conducting technical presentations, analyzing RFPs, leading technical sizing, preparing documentation, and collaborating with sales and engineering teams. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience in the BESS industry.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Electrical or Mechanical)
- Minimum 3 years of direct Applications and/or Systems Engineering experience working in the battery energy storage system (BESS) industry for a BESS integrator, battery OEM, power conversion OEM, consulting firm, electrical utility, or project developer
- Understanding of UL regulatory standards related to battery energy storage systems and grid interactive (GFL/GFM) inverters
- Understanding of BESS Energy Management System communications architectures
Desired Qualifications
- Exceptional technical aptitude including the ability to read and fully understand engineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews
- Global perspective and awareness, strong preference that the candidate possesses direct experience working across diverse cultures in a multinational company
- An excellent time manager, able to balance multiple projects and prioritize a broad variety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or related software strongly preferred
