Job Summary
Application Software Engineer for an R&D team focused on designing data-intensive applications for IoT, robotics, and consumer electronics. Responsibilities include writing clean Python code, contributing to software engineering knowledge, building dashboards to communicate data insights to engineers, collaborating with designers and engineers to integrate science outputs into products, reading current state-of-the-art papers for relevant modeling tasks, and optional authoring of research. Requires strong Python development and data engineering skills, experience processing large datasets, solid software engineering practices, and effective scientific communication. Five+ years of Python software development experience and a bachelor’s in a relevant field are required; advanced degree or certification is helpful. The role emphasizes teamwork, research exposure, and translating complex scientific concepts into actionable product development.
Required Qualifications
- Applied Physics or Applied Math background
- Strong Python Development skills with experience writing complex code as part of a team
- Solid software engineering skills related to data engineering and Python
- Good scientific communication skills to relate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong experience using Python to parse and process complex and large datasets
- Understanding and comfort with probability and statistics
- Pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- Experience with Python, SQL, Regular Expressions, RESTful methodologies, Git, and CI/CD tooling is helpful
- Experience with ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow) and classifiers, hyperparameter tuning
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker)
- Bachelor's in relevant engineering, applied physics, or applied math; advanced degree or certification helpful
