Job Summary
Develop continuous-wave and pulsed laser systems to test and evaluate active optical fiber performance. Perform testing and characterization of optical fiber products, design laser systems and optical amplifiers, and develop models and simulations of photonic systems. Analyze results, communicate findings to the design team, and create test methods and simulation tools to validate prototypes. Plan test bench assemblies, provide technical support for component qualification, and contribute to scientific publications and failure analysis investigations. Collect performance data, prepare technical reports, and assist with equipment procurement evaluations. Requires a Master's or Ph.D. in Physical Engineering or Optoelectronics with three years of photonics laboratory experience. Salary ranges from $90,000 to $125,000 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Physical Engineering, Optoelectronics, or a related field
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a photonics and optics laboratory
- Strong knowledge of optical fibers
- Solid understanding of optical fiber components, fiber lasers, and fiber amplifiers
- Hands-on experience assembling fiber laser systems
- Ability to follow rigorous and methodical processes
- Proficiency in both French and English
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with COMSOL
- Experience with industrial manufacturing processes, including the commissioning of laboratory or production equipment
