Job Summary
Application Engineer role in Phoenix, AZ focused on customer-driven design and robust engineering analysis. Responsibilities include specifying materials, analyzing structures for robustness, cost and risk, leading Design FMEAs with cross-functional teams (Logistics, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Suppliers, Tooling/Fixtures), applying QPC in line with IATF-16949, serving as the technical contact to support sales and maintain/grow customer relationships, and supporting manufacturing during prototyping and production launches. Must utilize Creo for CAD design and drafting (ANSI Y14.5-2018), apply GD&T, assess tolerance stack-ups, and manage CAD data with Windchill/PDM Link. Experience with DFM/DFA related to ATS manufacturing capabilities, heat transfer and structural analyses, strong organizational and project management skills, and experience with sheet metal design and weldments. Education: BS Mechanical Engineering; travel readiness (domestic/international). Also required: ability to direct designers/drafters, and capability to perform additional department-defined tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years design experience in an OEM manufacturing environment
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a parametric based CAD software
- Experience in sheet metal design and weldments
- Experience in heat exchanger products and processes (brazing) a plus
- Proficient CAD (Creo) usage and GD&T
- Knowledge of Windchill/PDM Link
- DFM/DFA skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional FMEA
- Excellent project management and time management
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally
- Technical communication with customers and internal teams
