Application Engineer - EC Motors

Job Summary
Provide hands-on technical support for EC motor selection, sizing, and integration, including generating torque-speed curves, thermal derating analyses, and control interface configurations. Lead technical engagement with OEM equipment manufacturers to secure motor specifications in new product development cycles and manage long-cycle design-in processes for rooftop units, air handlers, and pump systems. Prepare and deliver detailed technical and commercial proposals while conducting product demonstrations, application workshops, and training sessions on EC motor technology and efficiency ratings. Identify new application opportunities in commercial HVAC, cold chain/refrigeration, and industrial fan markets, interpreting standards like NEMA MG1 and IEC 60034 to support energy efficiency certifications. Gather customer feedback on product performance and communicate application trends to product management. Requires 2+ years of experience with EC motors, 5+ years in rotating electrical equipment, and willingness to travel up to 10%.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience with EC/PMAC/BLDC motors or variable-speed drive systems
- Experience with motor control interfaces
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness to travel up to 10%
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in rotating electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in HVAC, commercial refrigeration, or data center cooling applications
- Experience supporting OEM design-in sales cycles
- Familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems
- Knowledge of smart building protocols (BACnet, LonWorks) and IoT motor integration
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese
