Apparatus Technician - E&I

Job Summary

Execute routine and emergency maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure plant availability and efficiency. Perform transformer, cable, and circuit breaker testing while troubleshooting complex equipment across substations and generation facilities. Lead job leaders for contractors, manage project coordination for new installations, and oversee budget preparations and spare parts inventory. Maintain detailed documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System and ensure regulatory compliance with NFPA, OSHA, and EPA standards. Work varying shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with occasional overtime and travel to various plant locations.

Required Qualifications

  • A two-year associated degree in applied science or equivalent experience with electrical, electronic, HVAC/refrigeration, lineman, apparatus technician, instrumentation and controls
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge and skill needed to perform all aspects of maintenance to complex industrial electrical and instrument & control systems
  • Ability to provide job direction and project coordination for minor and major process retrofits and new projects
  • Skill and ability to learn, interpret and follow standards, safety procedures, regulatory and environmental compliance practices
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot complex equipment and systems
  • Must possess strong personal computer literacy for record-keeping, use of productivity applications, logic development and computerized equipment interface
  • Must acquire plant specific equipment and process knowledge and demonstrate proficiency, in compliance with OSHA's Qualified Electrical Worker requirement
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret vendor and manufacture schematics and instruction manuals, plant procedures and work practices
  • Must possess good mathematic, physics and writing skills
  • Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following REC safety rules, certifications and procedures
  • Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification of potential incidents
  • Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds
  • Must be able to lift up to 20-50 pounds frequently and bi-lateral carry up to 100 pounds on rare occasion
  • Must be able to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head
  • Must be able to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat
  • Must be able to work occasionally in confined space areas
  • Must be able to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects
  • Must be able to differentiate colors, have vision ability to encompass close-up and distant work, and the ability to speak and hear
  • Schedules shall be any combination of eight-, ten-or twelve-hour shifts and includes days, afternoons, nights weekends and holidays
