Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive physical exams, obtain patient histories, and diagnose acute and chronic medical conditions in the Emergency Department. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform minor procedures such as wound care and suturing, and manage stabilization of emergency and critically ill patients. Develop individualized care plans, prescribe medications within scope, and coordinate referrals, admissions, and follow-up care with physicians and nursing staff. Provide health education on disease prevention and treatment plans while documenting accurately in the electronic health record. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
- National board certification as a Family (FNP-C) or (FNP-BC)
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
- National board certification as a Family (FNP-C) or (FNP-BC)
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form
- 12 hour shifts (10 am to 10 pm), 1.0 FTE, every 4th weekend, holidays that fall on scheduled weekend
- 1.0 FTE
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in primary care or family medicine preferred
- If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred
