Job Summary
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in Sanford Health’s Emergency Department and Acute Care settings with 12-hour shifts (8–8 or 11–11) and a 40-hour work week. The PA/NP evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patient health concerns across the lifespan, orders/reviews diagnostic tests and imaging, prescribes medications and therapies, educates patients and families, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team. Responsibilities include performing procedures within scope, maintaining thorough EMR documentation, and participating in quality, safety, and performance improvement activities. Requires completion of an ARC-PA-accredited PA program, current PA licensure, NCCPA certification, a DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances, and any applicable state CSD license; privileging documents will supersede the job description where they differ. Sanford Health is an integrated rural health system with extensive network facilities in the upper Midwest. The role is based in Worthington, Minnesota, with ED work conducted in a department that operates 24/7 alongside an ED physician.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the ARC-PA or equivalent accrediting program accepted by the state licensing board
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in each state of practice
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
