Job Summary
Plan, supervise, and perform internal and external visual inspections and nondestructive examination on above-ground storage tanks in accordance with API 653 standards. Prepare and review comprehensive inspection reports, submitting technically accurate documentation of tank equipment condition to clients. Provide technical recommendations for repair, re-rate, replacement, or alteration of plant equipment, including input on welding and metallurgical issues. Guide clients on nondestructive examination techniques and procedures while fully complying with site safety initiatives. Travel to sites as needed to interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- API 653 required
- 10+ years of experience with tanks
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in tank inspection
- Current valid certification to American Petroleum Institute Standard API 653
- In-depth working knowledge of API 653 and ASME standards
- Valid Driver's License
- pre-access drug and alcohol testing
- Pre-employment background checks
- Valid TWIC Card
- Move, carry, and lift objects 50 lbs. or more
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
- Sufficient vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to investigations
- Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine in-field or office job duties
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform in-field or office job duties
- Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders or stairwells
- Ability to maintain focus and multitask effectively
Desired Qualifications
- API 510 and or 570 certifications
- Active CWI certification
- NDT Level II MT/PT/UTT Certifications
- Working knowledge of API 510 and or 570 and ASME standards
- Experience working in direct support of petrochemical facility engineers
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and various IDMS platforms
