APAC Labor and Employee Relations Senior Specialist

Job Summary

Provide pragmatic, legally informed advice on labor and employee relations matters by partnering with L&E Legal, HR colleagues, and People Leaders to proactively manage risk, ensure compliance, and resolve workforce issues effectively. Manage a broad employee relations caseload including routine, moderate, and complex matters, while conducting investigations where required and providing quality assurance to ensure thorough, consistent, and compliant practices. Coordinate with external counsel on litigation, drafting separation agreements, and escalating legal or reputational risk through designated frameworks. Project manage ER workstreams for restructures, reductions in workforce, and organizational changes to ensure commercially balanced outcomes. Support wider operating company HR teams across the APAC region to align labor and employee relations practices with applicable legislation and company policies.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Employment Law, Human Resources, or another related field
  • Significant experience operating at Senior Specialist Labor & Employee Relations level or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience and responsibility in leading a variety of LER issues to conclusion including HR investigations
  • Individual and group/collective employment separations
  • Performance management and performance-improvement plans
  • Disciplinary action
  • Proven experience advising senior leaders on high-risk employee relations matters, including organizational change, restructures, employment litigation and settlement / separation agreements
  • Demonstrable experience working on employee relations matters across the APAC region
  • Strong working understanding of employment law frameworks
  • Ability to apply this knowledge
  • Ability to operate with sound judgement, appropriate autonomy, and influence
  • Making practical recommendations on matters involving legal, labor relations, employee relations, reputational or business risk
  • Appropriately escalating risks through established frameworks
  • Experience partnering with business leaders, legal colleagues, and HR colleagues in a complex matrix environment
  • Balancing legal compliance, business priorities, employee experience and consistent outcomes
  • Experience applying employee relations governance frameworks
  • Analyzing LR and ER trends
  • Supporting practical interventions and preventative action plans
  • Ability to travel 20 – 30%
  • Primarily within APAC region
  • On-site role based in either Singapore or Malaysia

Desired Qualifications

  • A Degree in Employment Law
  • Fluency in languages in addition to English
  • ER experience in China and / or India
  • Experience in multinational companies, particularly within life sciences, manufacturing, or regulated industries
