Job Summary
AP World History Teacher at IDEA San Juan College Prep. Implement state standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations; learn, master, and deliver content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts; submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback; implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and adjust lesson plans; communicate students’ progress with students and families weekly; apply a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives; contribute to a productive learning environment; host tutoring sessions as needed; participate in weekly meetings and after-school duties; minimum 40+ hours spent at school per week; commitment to IDEA’s mission and values; compensation includes starting salary of $57,500 with potential stipends and performance-based pay; relocation allowance may be provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (required)
- State certification preferred but not required
- High level of content-area proficiency evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work-experience (strongly preferred)
- Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of core academic subject content and ability to pass a grade level aligned IDEA content assessment
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
