Job Summary
Complete maintenance, repair, and basic renovation work orders for TH rental housing units, buildings, and facilities using trade skills in carpentry and plumbing. Operate hand and power tools safely while adhering to hazard protocols, and occasionally assist with special projects or services at community gatherings. Provide public-facing support as requested by the Housing Maintenance Coordinator. This auxiliary on-call role supports the Housing & Infrastructure team in Dawson, YT, with a standard hourly rate of $37.42. Candidates must hold a Class 5 driver's license, pass a vulnerable sector criminal check, and possess Grade 10-12 education or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 10-12 (GED), or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience
- Training or experience in general building trades, including; carpentry and plumbing
- Experience in performing basic repairs, renovations and maintenance tasks
- Advanced knowledge of and ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Advanced knowledge of hazards and safe work practices with respect to maintenance
- Experience in dealing with the public in a service capacity
- Ability to work independently or as part of the Housing & Infrastructure team to meet work commitments
- Ability to establish and maintain positive work relationships with co-workers and public
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule and overtime, as requested by the supervisor, for project deadlines or housing emergencies
- Standard First Aid certification
- TH101 cultural awareness training
