Job Summary
Assess student abilities against educational goals and objectives while developing lesson plans and instructional materials to adapt curriculum for individual needs. Deliver individualized and small group instruction, plan age-appropriate class activities, and establish behavioral standards to foster a conducive learning climate. Identify student needs, collaborate with staff to resolve learning problems, and maintain professional competence through continuous improvement activities. Communicate instructional expectations and progress to students and parents, ensure confidentiality of student records, and participate in school-level planning and faculty committees. Establish strong relationships with colleagues, team leaders, and community members while modeling appropriate personal characteristics consistent with student development goals. Fulfill professional responsibilities beyond the classroom, including participation in co-curricular programs, district improvement efforts, and community groups, while adhering to high ethical standards and the Students First Act of 2011.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a B.S. Degree in the area of instructional responsibility
- Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certification in the area of instructional responsibility
- Knowledge of state core curriculum content standards and district educational goals and objectives of instructional specialty to which assigned
- Knowledge of student academic progress toward stated objectives of instruction
- Knowledge of school's program of studies related to mission, goals and organization
- Skilled and effective in oral and written communication
- Ability to develop and implement lesson plans based on district and state courses of study in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
- Ability to use and manage technology including, but not limited to, e-mail, internet, Microsoft Office Programs, CD-ROMS, DVDS, videos, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of the school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations
- Possesses the physical and emotional ability to fulfill the contract period
- Background Check Required: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5 ) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old.
