Required Qualifications

• •Resident of Pennsylvania
• •School Nurse PK-12 Level 1
• •All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel
• •Great organizational and time management skills
• •Strong written and verbal communication skills
• •Adaptable technology skills
• •Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
• •Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
• •Demonstrated competencies with general technology, Microsoft Office Platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.), Google Platforms, Zoom, etc.
• •Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Pennsylvania, holds an unrestricted license
• •Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS)
• •Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• •Ability to exhibit mental dexterity to dial a telephone, enter data into a computer, read a computer screen and printed material, hear and understand speech at normal office/workplace levels, and speak in audible tones
• •Ability to physically lift up to 30 pounds
• •Ability to read, analyze, and interpret workplace documents, technical procedures, research studies, and governmental regulations
• •Ability to write reports with clarity
• •Ability to interface diplomatically with all members of the school community - administrators, teachers, parents, students, Board members, support staff, colleagues, and outside professional contacts
• •Ability to coordinate and use technology for a variety of workplace purposes and communications
• •Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• •Ability to work independently, typically 40 hours per week
• •Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school
• •Ability to maintain current professional licensure, certifications, and required continuing education
• •Ability to participate in professional learning and continuous improvement activities to strengthen school nursing practice
• •Ability to contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of school health policies, procedures, and programs
• •Ability to respond to health concerns, medical emergencies, and crisis situations in accordance with established protocols and applicable laws
• •Ability to coordinate required student health screenings, review results, provide required parent notifications, and facilitate appropriate referrals and follow-up
• •Ability to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of health-related Section 504 accommodations
• •Ability to participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary teams to provide nursing expertise and recommendations related to student health needs
• •Ability to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and school policies governing school health services
• •Ability to serve as the primary health resource for students, families, educators, and school staff regarding student health concerns and school health procedures
• •Ability to collaborate with internal teams and external healthcare providers to coordinate services and ensure continuity of care
• •Ability to provide consultation regarding communicable disease prevention, infection control, and public health guidance
• •Ability to support multidisciplinary teams, including MTSS, attendance, counseling, and student support teams, by addressing health-related factors affecting student participation and success
• •Ability to provide health education and guidance to students, families, and staff to promote healthy behaviors and informed health decision-making
• •Ability to educate students and families regarding chronic health conditions, medication management, preventive care, and available community resources
• •Ability to promote health and wellness initiatives that support student engagement, attendance, and academic success
• •Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student health records in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements
• •Ability to monitor compliance with Pennsylvania health requirements, including immunizations, physical examinations, dental examinations, and required health screenings
• •Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and annually review Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and emergency care plans for students with identified health conditions
• •Ability to provide nursing assessment, consultation, and care coordination for students with acute and chronic health conditions
• •Ability to collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and school personnel to promote student success in the virtual learning environment
• •Ability to review student health histories and medical documentation to identify health needs and determine appropriate school-based supports
• •Ability to promote student health, safety, and wellness by identifying and addressing health-related barriers to learning
• •Ability to coordinate health plans, accommodations, and nursing supports necessary for students to safely participate in state assessments, school-sponsored activities, field trips, and other in-person events
• •Ability to review physician orders and medical documentation to support medication administration, specialized healthcare procedures, and other medically necessary accommodations
• •Ability to develop and monitor individualized health plans and health accommodations
• •Ability to manage health-related compliance requirements
• •Ability to collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and school teams to ensure students with health needs receive appropriate support to fully participate in their educational program
• •Ability to help remove health-related barriers to student success while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements
• •Ability to provide professional nursing services that support student access to learning in a virtual educational environment
• •Ability to promote student health, safety, and wellness by providing professional nursing services that support student access to learning in a virtual educational environment

Desired Qualifications
