Job Summary
Anticipated Pre-K Teacher Assistant for Ridgefield Park School District. Assists the classroom teacher by working with individual and small groups of disabled students, providing physical help and emotional support to help students gain benefit from the district's special education program. Requires High School Diploma with college-level coursework in education or related field; knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities; demonstrated ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff; criminal history check; and eligibility/residency requirements for New Jersey. Reports to Classroom teacher, Principal, or Coordinator of Student Personnel Services. Location: District; salary $30,395; benefits include paid time off, training, and pension.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma; college-level coursework in education or related field
- Minimum experience as determined by the board
- Ability to assist with instructional activities and to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff
- Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices
- Criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment
- In Title I funded programs: two years of college, associate's degree or higher, or pass an evaluation to demonstrate knowledge and ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and math
