Job Summary
Provide an approved special education program for students in grades K-6 (and Inclusion-focused teaching) and establish a positive, supportive classroom environment. Maintain strong communication and relationships with parents and staff, supervise pupils and, when assigned, student teachers and teacher assistants. Requires a valid New Jersey instructional certificate and K-6 eligibility, with compliance for criminal history background check, and residency requirements in New Jersey.
Required Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate
- Appropriate Elementary School or Kindergarten through Grade 6 or K-6 & TOSD
- Minimum experience as determined by the board
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Required criminal history background check
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment
- REPORTS TO: Principal, Coordinator of Student Personnel Services
- JOB GOAL: To provide an approved special education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help pupils develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education; and to maintain good relationships with parents and other staff members.
