Job Summary
Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours weekly and asynchronously support student objectives by composing emails, planning course content, and using data to identify individual needs. Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests, maintain grade books, and make placement and promotion decisions based on formal and informal progress reports. Establish positive rapport with families, communicate regularly with parents and learning coaches, and provide support regarding curricular issues and learning environment setup. Collaborate with other teachers to ensure student progress and distribute tasks among stakeholders while responding to students and colleagues in a timely manner. This full-time, home-based role requires a Pennsylvania resident with a bachelor's degree and six months of student teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
- Resident of Pennsylvania
- Bachelor's degree
- Six (6) months of student teaching experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel
- Great organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptable technology skills
- Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
- Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
- Demonstrated competencies with general technology, Microsoft Office Platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.), Google Platforms, Zoom, etc.
- Appropriate PA state teaching certification for the grade level/subject content required
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to exhibit mental dexterity to 'dial' a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to read a computer screen and printed material, to hear and understand speech at normal office/workplace levels, and on the telephone, and to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in the workplace and on the telephone
- Ability to physically lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret workplace documents, technical procedures, research studies, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports with clarity
- Ability to interface diplomatically with all members of the school community - administrators, teachers, parents, students, Board members, support staff, colleagues, and outside professional contacts
- Ability to coordinate and use technology for a variety of workplace purposes and communications
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday
- Ability to be available for limited travel and limited overnight travel (estimated less than 20% of the time)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a virtual environment
- 1-3 years of experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick and mortar environment
- Experience with Class for Zoom or other programs for live virtual class meetings
- Experience with student assessments such as Exact Path, Study Island or AimsWeb
- Masters Degree and Level 2 Certification preferred
