Job Summary
Counsel students and parents individually and in groups on problem-solving, abuse, grief, and anger management. Plan and coordinate Parent Support Nights, conduct home visits for truancy and medical issues, and interview families to obtain developmental background information. Communicate with teachers regarding student life situations, assist families in understanding educational needs, and act as a liaison to maintain open lines of communication. Serve as an advocate for McKinney-Vento students, participate in Student Study Teams, and facilitate classroom instruction on social skills and violence prevention. Work a four-day week (Monday through Thursday) with seven professional development days held Fridays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid and Proper Arizona Certification
- Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing
- Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals
- Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms
- Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance
