Job Summary
Perform daily animal husbandry including cleaning, feeding, watering, and sanitation for research animals. Operate and maintain equipment such as cage washers and autoclaves while monitoring environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Conduct general facility cleaning, inventory management, and room preparation. Receive, distribute, and identify animals for study assignments or consolidation. Observe animal health and behavior, reporting aberrations per Standard Operating Procedures and Good Laboratory Practices. Comply with safety protocols, including personal protective equipment and barrier requirements. Work scheduled weekends and holidays in a warm environment, lifting up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Basic computer and math skills
- Ability to effectively comprehend and communicate (verbal and written) in a professional manner
- Ability to work with animals
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to interact in an appropriate and professional manner with others
- Strict attention to detail and follow-up skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to perform in a team environment
- Responsible for the accuracy of any assigned task
- Responsible for all aspects of training associated with their level of certification
- Ability to bend, reach, and push and pull while working with the animals
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment
- Positive attitude toward work and co-workers
- Aptitude to follow company policies (tobacco, drug and alcohol-free site), standard operating procedures, and maintain regulatory compliance
- Must be able to work on scheduled weekends and holidays
- All schedules include weekends, holidays and occasional overtime
- Position requires a background check and health clearance
