Animal Technician (Husbandry)

Job Summary
Care and welfare of a variety of laboratory animal species, including non-human primates, primarily at CL2 with possible CL3 work, under ASPA; perform in vivo procedures, animal identification and preparation for test work, and precision loading of syringes with test samples, with instruction from senior staff. Includes general cleaning and sterilisation/disinfection of animal holding areas, and contributing to weekend/bank-holiday cover. Requires practical animal-care experience, ASPA awareness, IT skills, and commitment to high animal welfare standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5 GCSE (or equivalent)
- IT skills: MS Office (Word/Excel)
- Practical experience of caring for animals in a working environment
- Awareness of Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA)
