Job Summary
Oversee the Customer Care and Call Center teams, managing policies, training staff on diversion and prevention strategies, and ensuring accurate data management and reporting. Direct hiring, evaluation, and coaching for volunteers while addressing inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions to reunite animals with owners and promote responsible pet ownership. Maintain safe reception areas, process payments, and represent the organization at community meetings and partnerships. Provide weekly updates on service changes, conduct regular training sessions, and enforce operational safety standards in this fast-paced environment serving diverse clients.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- 5 years experience working in animal welfare
- minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role with training responsibilities
- Experience working with the public and individual diverse in age, culture, and in varied settings
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), leadership, customer service, and public speaking skills, including the ability to write/edit materials for publication
- Knowledge of animal health and behavior
- Interest and ability to learn to administer routine medical treatments and preventatives, including injections (e.g. vaccines)
- Strong customer service and skills
- Proven experience in building effective teams through management and coaching, performance management, providing constructive feedback, rewards and recognition, and goal setting
- Commitment to improving professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, conferences and the like
- Must attend regular training and participate in continuous learning opportunities
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
- Excellent communication and management skills and proven organizational ability
- Strong sense of professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must have program development skills and an eye for departmental improvements
- Experience with using data to inform decisions
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and manage several projects simultaneously

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl; talk or hear and/or smell
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Federal law requires proof of citizenship or alien right-to-work status
- Pasadena Humane maintains a drug-free workplace and performs pre-employment substance abuse testing
