Job Summary
Conduct traumatic brain injury and neuroprotection research in a laboratory environment, including preparing liver tissues for GSSG/GSH assays, testing cytochrome oxidase activity, and measuring RNA, miRNA, and protein biomarkers using micro array, PCR, western blot, and ELISA. Perform animal behavior testing via the Morris water maze and rotarod training, while perfusing tissues for histological study. Assist with project execution for PBBI, PCI, Polytrauma, and Mitochondria studies, manage raw material receipt and equipment stocking, and maintain cleanrooms and biosafety standards. Report observations and measurements to support clinical practice guidelines for TBI resuscitation. This role is onsite at WRAIR in Silver Spring, MD, requiring NACI clearance and a minimum of 10 years of research experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder with U.S. residency for the last 3 out of 5 years
- Ability to obtain NACI
- B.S. in the Biological Sciences, preference for Neurology or Neurobiology
- Minimum of 10 years of research experience in the field or in a related area
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. in the Biological Sciences, preference for Neurology or Neurobiology
- Minimum of 15 years of research experience in the field or in a related area
