Animal Control Officer - Part-time

Job Summary

Conduct daily animal control fieldwork, including investigating citizen complaints, capturing and impounding animals, and enforcing city ordinances and state laws. Coordinate with law enforcement, manage animal bite quarantines and rabies testing procedures, and handle animal intake and vehicle maintenance. Perform court testimony, complete accurate reports, and assist with shelter cleaning and euthanasia as needed. Maintain a valid driver's license, work under stress with rotating 24-hour on-call status, and lift up to 50 pounds. This part-time role requires an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Animal Science, or two years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Animal Science or related field
  • at least two years of experience at an Animal Control agency or similar organization

  • Specialized knowledge of the principles and objectives of animal control and of law enforcement activities
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form
