Job Summary
Enforce Animal Control Laws and City of Boston Ordinances to ensure public safety and animal well-being. Perform quarantine inspections at housing facilities, deliver notices, and remove injured, maimed, or diseased animals. Pick up stray and unlicensed dogs, prepare complaints against owners of improperly licensed animals, and maintain records of removals and violations. Requires Massachusetts residency, a valid driver's license, and one year of animal control or municipal law complaint review experience. Full-time 35-hour schedule under the Director of Animal Control.
Required Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of animal control or related experience
- One (1) year of experience in the review of citizen complaints of violations of Municipal Law
- Good knowledge of rules and regulations, of laws to process complaints, interpret, and apply pertaining laws, ordinances, and rules
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job
- Must have and maintain a Massachusetts driver's license
- CORI CHECK REQUIRED
- BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
