Job Summary
Conduct field work advising citizens on animal ownership, enforcing county ordinances and state statutes, and locating reported stray animals. Investigate calls and complaints, obtain bite information, and act as a witness in court. Perform operational duties including issuing citations, preparing animals for rabies testing, and disposing of unwanted or diseased animals. Assist with boarding area maintenance, kennel duties, and central office clerical tasks while maintaining certification for chemical immobilization and euthanasia. Work subject to stand-by for emergencies, shift work, and inclement weather exposure.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Notary for the State of Florida
- Successful completion of a 40 hour minimum standards training course approved by the Florida Animal Control Association
- Successful completion of state approved euthanasia training
- Maintain Certification as required by Florida State Statutes
- Successful completion of Chemical Immobilization Training
- Customer service, public contact or animal/kennel related work experience
- A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
