Job Summary
Monitor bird health, feed, light, air, and water supplies daily while documenting all tasks on daily and weekly forms. Ensure facility security by locking doors and sweep, clean, and maintain ventilation systems to protect chickens from predators and environmental hazards. Collect and dispose of mortality, operate automated environmental and egg flow computers, and handle bird moving equipment with pneumatic or pressurized water. Perform light maintenance on barns and equipment, observe egg lines for blockages, and adhere to all company safety policies and animal welfare procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to track and document all activities with correct forms and paperwork
- Strong communication skills so that others will understand both verbally and in writing
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work with a team
- Must enjoy working in close contact with animals
- Must be self-directed and organized
- Detail oriented
- Record of good attendance with a flexible schedule
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalency preferred
- 1 year experience in agricultural environment and animal care is preferred
- Working knowledge of agricultural operations preferred
