Animal Care Technician II - Milker

Job Summary
Milking cows and handling lactating dairy cattle at the UW-Madison Arlington Dairy Research Center. Responsibilities include milking, collecting composite milk samples, observing and handling animals, maintaining animal housing spaces and supplies, updating records related to research procedures, and assisting with feeding per established schedules. The role requires following written and oral instructions, ensuring compliance with research protocols and food-grade product standards, and progressively performing duties under supervision. Candidates should be able to operate farm equipment, communicate effectively, and contribute to welfare and behavioral studies within a high-detail dairy research environment. Work schedule is based on operational needs with a 40-hour week and a shift of 1:00 PM–9:30 PM; some holidays may be required. Education requirement is HS diploma preferred; no visa sponsorship is offered.
Required Qualifications
- Full training provided during the first year on the job
- Willingness to learn, work hard and contribute positively to the work team

- Ability to interpret and follow written and oral instructions
