Job Summary
Animal Care Technician II in the Insourcing Solutions team supporting the greater Boston area. Responsible for monitoring and documenting the health and environment of CRADL animal facilities, performing routine and specialized husbandry, providing study-specific services and breeding support, and collaborating with veterinary staff in a regulated research setting. Key duties include handling and transporting animals and supplies, maintaining sanitation logs and QA documentation, supporting training of ACT 1 staff, conducting daily welfare observations, performing humane euthanasia under supervision, operating cagewash equipment, assisting with restraint and handling of various animal species, housing incoming animals, completing safety and professional-development training, acting as a subject-matter expert in animal husbandry, and achieving competency in non-invasive procedures such as body weights, dosing administration, tissue collection, and animal identification as requested by site needs. Educational background and certifications are noted, with a minimum HS/GED requirement and 12 months of relevant experience; ALAT/LAT certifications are valued. The role emphasizes independent work, adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines, and collaboration with facility leadership.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Minimum of twelve (12) months directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility or basic technical skills (dosing, tissue collection)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in animal or life sciences
- Preferred: ALAT or LAT certification
