Job Summary
Animal Care Technician responsible for humane animal care and handling, including feeding, medicating, monitoring, enrichment, and coordination with volunteers and the Behavior Department. Duties include walking dogs, cleaning litter pans, providing enrichment, assisting with behavior modification, and ensuring shelter operations run smoothly. Must maintain high standards of animal care, safety, and professional interactions with clients and staff, while supporting the shelter’s mission and adhering to Fear Free Shelter Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Compassionate and caring with excellent communication skills
- Able to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
- Prior experience with and knowledge of higher animal care
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Willingness to work on weekends and holidays as part of full-time schedule
- Ability to handle emotionally challenging and dynamic shelter environment
- Capability to walk dogs, clean cages, provide enrichment, and perform daily care tasks
- Respect for humane treatment of animals and adherence to safety protocols
