Job Summary
Provide humane care for all animals in Society’s care, maintain a clean and sanitary shelter, and ensure animals have access to food and water. Perform euthanasia in accordance with Society policies and California laws, including owner-present euthanasia and select decapitations per health-department guidelines. Assist in training staff and volunteers; support other departments as needed; and contribute to a positive public image. Must be flexible to work weekends/holidays and pass a background check. Requires a valid California driver’s license and ability to lift 50-75 pounds; experience with data entry and Chameleon software is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid California Driver’s License with clean record
- Background check upon hire
- Certified in Euthanasia within six months of employment in house
- Ability to lift and move up to 50-75 pounds
- Ability to read and write simple correspondence; communicate effectively with public and staff
- Proficiency with computer software (Chameleon database or willingness to learn) and basic Microsoft Office
